Toilet trucks to fix public urination problem
Special trucks featuring mobile toilet cubicles could soon be parked in the Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct on busy nights in a new bid to stop public urination.
The man appointed by Lord Mayor Campbell Newman to spruce up the Brunswick Street Mall has revealed moves are underway to boost the area’s inadequate public toilet facilities.
Valley Malls Advisory Committee chairman Phillip Di Bella said one plan involved the use of mobile toilets “that look attractive”.
“There’s one concept that’s like a semi-trailer … and it’s coin-operated and if you put a coin in you can go to the loo,” he said.
“[The trucks] come in, they can park in a loading zone, it looks attractive and they don’t look like Port-a-loos.”
